Beyond the Hunt: Delivering to Kura Kai and The Hub Te Puke Food Bank

Our mission is more than just hunting. It’s about meaningful impact, on our environment, for our communities, and families. Every deer harvested is handled with care and attention, processed by skilled volunteers, and turned into nutritious high quality protein.

This week, we saw that impact firsthand.

We picked up a fresh load of wild venison mince from the freezer and delivered it straight into the hands of two incredible organisations; Kura Kai and The Hub Te Puke Foodbank. Marie from Kura Kai, which supports High School rangatahi with frozen meals says “We’re lucky to be supported by Hunt for Good, a grassroots not for profit that supplies us with locally sourced meat”. We were hugely inspired also by the work done at the Hub Te Puke. More great people doing great things in the community. Between them, 12 boxes of 20kg of mince were shared out.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Seeing the smiles from the food bank staff and knowing the difference this meat will make to the families they support, is humbling. It fuels our drive to keep going.

We're incredibly grateful to our platinum sponsor, Baygold, who were there with us for the delivery. Their backing is crucial to our work. Their support helps bring this whole operation to life. As much as this is a hunting story, it’s equally one of teamwork and trust. Without sponsors, volunteers, and landowners working alongside us, this kaupapa would not be possible.

At its heart, Hunt for Good is about community. It’s about turning a problem - overpopulated deer, into a solution. We are transforming a pest into a protein source – building sustainability and restoring hope.

And most of all, it’s about connection: to the land, to each other, and to a better future.

Thanks to everyone involved in making this delivery happen, especially those working behind the scenes. You’re helping to create a cycle of care that feeds families, supports rangatahi, and brings positive change to every corner we reach.

This is what Hunt for Good is all about, turning a problem into something that feeds people, protects the land, and brings communities together.

We’re proud of this one. More to come.
