Our Mission

Stoney Creek Hunt for Good is a New Zealand not-for-profit dedicated to tackling food insecurity by donating wild venison to food banks and community groups. Our team of unpaid volunteers carry out the hunts themselves, giving their time and skills to help others.

We work with farmers who are facing challenges due to high numbers of wild deer on their land. These deer often compete with livestock for valuable feed. By helping manage these populations, we support farmers while turning a pest species into a reliable protein source for families in need.

Since beginning this work, we have successfully culled 660 deer and recovered 587, resulting in approximately 4.72 tonnes of venison mince distributed to communities across the country. This contribution plays a meaningful role in addressing the shortage of red meat in food banks.

Our mission supports both people and the environment. We reduce waste, restore ecological balance, and ensure nutritious meat reaches those who need it most.

We provide our volunteers with a supportive, alcohol-free environment where they are well fed and cared for. Everyone involved in the trust contributes their time without pay, demonstrating the impact of shared purpose and collective effort.

By partnering with landowners, local businesses, and food banks, we ensure that no opportunity is wasted. At its heart, this initiative is about sustainability, community connection, and doing good in a practical and lasting way.

At Stoney Creek Hunt for Good, we're more than just hunters—we're here to give back.
