Mission 6: The Battle of Two Stations

📅 Friday 6th - Sunday 8th June

147 Deer Culled and a 40% increase in yield!

Our volunteers braved the elements to deliver Hunt for Good's most impactful mission to date. Across two separate locations, the team showed up with grit, determination, and care for both the land and the communities we serve.

In total, 147 deer were harvested, just four more than the previous mission, but with a significant milestone: 1,235 kg of wild venison mince processed and donated. That’s a 40% increase in meat yield, providing thousands more servings of high-quality, nutritious kai for food banks and community groups around the country.

The weather wasn’t on our side. Intermittent rain made tracks slippery and limited access to some areas, so safety became the top priority. Even with reduced range at both sites, the team managed to recover 38 deer on Friday alone. By Sunday, that number had climbed to 147, with strong contributions from both day and night hunting crews.

Behind these numbers is a story of teamwork. Volunteers worked long hours in challenging conditions, navigating tough terrain and managing logistics between two stations. Special thanks to Sam Bradley-Arthur for expert butchering that helped us make the most of every carcass recovered.

While we continue to improve our systems, what stands out most is the commitment of the people behind Hunt for Good. Each mission is a step forward, feeding more families, protecting more farms, and restoring more balance to the whenua.

As always, thank you to our supporters, landowners, and volunteers. We couldn’t do this mahi without you.
